Appointments

Jamie Simpson, a former Care Worker himself, founded the company in 2014.

Jamie previously worked directly with the elderly and disabled, to assist with personal care and improve the quality of their life in their own homes. He now sits on the board of an ever growing Care Home organisation in the South East of England.

Jamie noticed a distinct lack of a transportation services for wheelchair users and therefore decided with his experience in care the industry to create a company and offer a specialised service.

His vision was to offer a professional transportation service, ensuring the client is safe and comfortable when making the trip to their desired destination. His main objective however, was to use his care experience and people skills to add a personal touch to the service.

Jamie has since hand-picked and trained a selection of the best quality drivers in the Sussex, Surrey and North West Kent areas, who all have the key skills of not only a high level care worker, but also the essential punctuality and people skills of a professional Taxi Driver.

Vehicles

The company has multiple professionally adapted Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles in its fleet, all of which have a 6 point wheelchair securing system to prevent slipping and guarantee comfort and safety.

The vehicles have enough room for a standard sized wheelchair and user, and two further passengers such as carers, family members or friends.

The service user stays in their wheelchair throughout the journey by entering via a ramp at the rear of the vehicle and are secured facing forwards to prevent any discomfort during travel. The service users also have their own seat belt to ensure they are as safe as a non-wheelchair user.

The vehicles also double up as an orthodox, spacious and comfortable 4 seater Taxis for customers who do not need a specialist wheelchair vehicle but who still prefer a specialist caring service for the user and carers.

Re: Wheelchair Friendly Taxis Limited.

I struggled terribly trying to find suitable transport for my son, Matthew, once he went into adult services – the recommendations that were given to me by our local services were all unavailable when I needed them due to being used on school runs as the school transport services for the disabled had already been cut.

Luckily I was on our local facebook group when someone asked the question ‘anyone have any recommendations for transporting someone in a wheelchair?’ and ‘Wheelchair Friendly Taxis’ came up in one of the answers. I contacted them immediately and was introduced to Jamie and his team. I have never looked back – the service they provide is great, very reliable and so friendly. They are all so good with Matthew and he is always happy to see them and very relaxed going out with them, which gives me great peace of mind and that is what you need when you entrust someone else with your loved one. All the cars are properly adapted to carry wheelchairs so you know that they are safe, they are also very competitively priced.

I would highly recommend Jamie and the team at Wheelchair Friendly Taxis Ltd. It is really nice to feel confident in those that are providing such vital services and it certainly makes my life a lot easier.

I have been using Wheelchair Taxis for about 3 years, and I can honestly say the service that our residents receive is excellent. The drivers are always on time, they are very polite and treat our residents with respect. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and everyone who uses the service is very happy.

If I need to book a taxi for one of the residents, wheelchair taxis would always be my first choice. I would happily recommend them.
